Honest Review of MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot : Best Nude Eye Primer

Product Info

Product Name: MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot
Shade: Painterly
Capacity: 5g
Price: 45,000 KRW (≈ $34 USD)
What I Paid: 38,250 KRW (≈ $29 USD)

What I wanted in an eye shadow:

Works as a base.
Preferably a nude shade.
No powder fallout.

This one met all 3 things I wanted and even worked as an eye primer, helping eyeshadow stay longer and reducing fallout. So I buought it right away.

Packaging

It comes in a sturdy glass jar. At first, 5g doesn’t seem like a lot, but since only a small amount is needed each time, I think it will last for a long time.

Color

Painterly Applied

Painterly is very nude shade. On my skin, it barely shows. (FYI, my skin tone is Muted Summer ligth greish, 19~21 tone who prefers lighter tone)

I think Painterly leans slightly cool-neutral, so it matches with cool undertones. But other shades in the line seemed a bit too brown for me.

It was just enough to lightly even out the eyelids. It provides a subtle tone correction that makes the skin look smoother and cleaner. Even without eyeshadow, using just the Paint Pot makes the eyes look naturally defined, giving a soft shading effect.

Texture & Application

People say it sets very quickly, and that’s so true! By the time you close the lid, it’s already fixed in place. You really need to apply it fast.

When touching the product directly, it feels slightly moist and glides on smoothly without any patchiness.

Once it sets, adding another layer doesn't work well. So it’s better to apply enough product at once rather than layering later.

Longevity

I applied a similar amount of  eyeshadow on both eyelids (one with Paint Pot, one without).

Longevity of Paint Pot

Over time, the foundation-only side lost most of its color, while the Paint Pot side remained intact.

The side with the MAC Paint Pot looked noticeably better. The eyeshadow color stayed much longer without becoming dull or darkened.

The base felt soft and matte, and there was no creasing on the eyelids.

However, I didn’t notice a major reduction in fallout. Fallout still depends mostly on the eyeshadow formula itself.

Final Thoughts

The MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot works well on its won and also works as an eye primer. It keeps eyeshadow colors longer and prevents creasing, which I really liked.

Although the price is a bit high, the quality is excellent. If you choose a shade that suits your tone, you won’t regret buying this one!
