French Brand: Goutal
Goutal is a French brand established in 1981 by perfumer Annick Goutal. It is renowned for its niche perfumes.
Scent
As expected from Goutal, the fragrance was really lovely. The blend of floral and powdery notes was well balanced, creating a soft, elegant scent.
It smelled so nice while applying, and the sillage lingered delicately and lasted quite a while.
Texture & Absorption
Since it doesn’t absorb right away, you can keep massaging it into the skin for a while. It stays creamy and smooth throughout application.
However, it’s definitely more oil-based, so it takes quite a time to fully absorb. Even after massaging for a while (like 5 mins), a noticeable residue remained on my skin, leaving a heavy, slick feeling. I really do not like this feeling.
This level of oiliness just isn’t my style. My face is dehydrated oil combination skin but my body leans more oily than dry. So I don’t enjoy heavy, rich body creams.
So, I didn’t feel like using it often. But the scent was lovely, so I ended up using it by layering a small amount on top of my regular body lotion, mainly on my arms or shoulders, but never on the back or other areas. 😅
Final Thoughts
The Goutal Tenue de Soirée body cream has a gorgeous, long-lasting scent, but it’s too rich and oily for my preference.
If you have dry skin or love luxurious, perfume-like body creams, you’ll probably enjoy it. For me, though, it was more of an “amazing scent but too heavy to use often” kind of product.
