Honest Review of VDL Color Correcting Primer Serenity Tone-Up

I received this VDL Color Correcting Primer as a gift quite some time ago.

The product has been renewed in 2024 under the name Tone Stain Color Correcting Primer, and mine is from the previous version.

Product Info

Product Name: VDL Color Correcting Primer
Shade: Serenity

** FYI**
My Skin Type: Combination-dehydrated
Tone: 19–21, prefers bright tone
Seasonal Type: Summer mute, light grayish

Tone-up Effect

Serenity is a soft pastel blue that helps neutralize yellow undertones and gives the skin a slightly brighter, more luminous appearance.

The texture contains plenty of moisture, so it spreads easily and evenly.

When applied, it slightly adheres to the skin and then sets with a semi-matte finish. It feels like a thin film covers the surface, and I could see a bit of white pigment settling into fine lines.

Depending on how much you apply, the skin brightens by about half to one tone immediately after use.

However, after some time, the tone-up effect becomes barely noticeable—just a faint brightness remains.

Longevity

If I take photos and compare them, the side with primer looks a little more even in tone, but when seen in the mirror, I honestly couldn’t tell much difference.
I didn’t feel that it made my makeup last longer or break down evenly.

It simply does what its name suggests. It evens out skin tone and helps the base makeup apply more smoothly.

Final Thoughts

If you like a bright and soft-focus look, it’s worth trying.
However, don’t expect dramatic tone-up or long-lasting makeup effects. It’s a subtle, natural base for evening out overall complexion.
